We can install more fonts to use in your desktop or to give character to our texts.

To install the Microsoft Windows fonts have to open a terminal and from there run the following command.:

sudo apt-get install ttf-mscorefonts-installer

Red Hat has its own sources that you can install with:

sudo apt-get install ttf-liberation

To install additional TrueType fonts must do the following. In your "home" directory, where you appear when you open a terminal you must create a directory called. "Fonts". Then you will copy the files. Ttf to that directory.

You can do this easily using Nautilus, but should let you show hidden files, ie having a front and points. "Fonts". To display hidden files, go to Places → Home Folder and in the window that is displayed press [CONTROL + H] or you're going to View → Show Hidden Files. In that window you create the new folder name. "Fonts" without the quotes.

In Windows fonts are stored in c: \ Windows \ Fonts

If we want is that these fonts are available for all computer users must copy the fonts to a different folder. This is /usr/share/fonts

to copy it must be root to which we will open Nautilus with:

sudo nautilus /usr/share/fonts

or from a terminal or by clicking anywhere on gnome [ALT + F2]

Once installed our new typefaces are available that can reboot or restart the cache preferably sources with the following command:

fc-cache -vf

This will become available for use.
